The works of the brothers Jamex and Einar De La Torre are unorthodox, colorful, of extravagant proportions and in every case, spectacular

The Glasmuseum Frauenau dedicates this special exhibition to the two brothers, Einar and Jamex De La Torre, who live and work in San Diego, California, and Ensenada, México. They enjoy great recognition in their home countries and are currently making a name for themselves with their work for public space. They have already designed exhibitions in many countries of the world and Europe, but Frauenau is the first exhibition location in Germany. The exhibition is preceded by a three-day workshop by Einar and Jamex de la Torre at the Eisch Glassworks.

Glasmuseum Frauenau

Alfons Hannes (1931-2010), glass engraver, trade union secretary and mayor of Frauenau from 1966 to 1996, knew and loved the glassworker milieu. At the same time, he was a cosmopolitan and well-traveled art lover and glass historian. Supported by the artist Erwin Eisch, the hut master Helmut Schneck, regional and international glass lovers and glass history museums, he converted a collapsed sawmill to the Glasmuseum Frauenau, which opened in 1975. The first municipal glass museum was characterized by glass expertise, humanity and the improvisation spirit of Frauenau. It exceeded the narrow convention boundaries between the industrial and art museum, between regional and international orientation. Presentations of history, crafts and technology were supplemented by valuable glass objects from local stocks, private and museum collections and purchases and made the artistic connections between the glass-producing regions and the markets of the world understandable since ancient times.
